June 2008 Goals, Midway Report

So in the beginning of the month I posted my June 2008 Goals. They were pretty small but very very important to me:

1. Do not get overdrafted by the Bank!
2. Stop Payday Loans forever!

Here's how I'm doing at the midway point of the month.

1. Haven't been overdrafted. Check! Spend less than I earn. Spend less than I earn. I'm doing all I can to stick to this goal.

2. Pay off remaining payday loan. Almost check! I have scheduled my VERY LAST payment on my very last loan for next Thursday. They payoff amount was $195, a high price for freedom, but worth very penny to get out of this terrible hole. I can't even imagine what life will be like without spending upwards of $400 a month on payments and fees.

I've even started making a list of things I want to focus on in July. One of them is to never ever use an out-of-network ATM machine again less I incur the Evil Bank Fee Monster. Still got a ways to go in the month but things are stable for now.

I just try to avoid ATMs at all cost. These stupid things are such a rip-off too. If you use one from another bank, that bank charges you a few bucks for using it, on top of the few bucks your own bank charges. It is best to just avoid using them altogether.

I'm glad your relationship with payday loans is coming to an end. If you make the payment to them in person, I would tell them the 'service' they provide should be criminal.

If you're going to free up $400 a month that should help you get a handle on your money for a change. Seems like a good time to get those utilities current and an emergency fund going to avoid coming up short in the future.

I agree with Jim. Just dont use atm. I never use it. Why do you need to use anyway?

I'm just starting to realize how bad they are I guess but I'm going to resolve to cut them out of my life as well. Bad habit I guess but sometimes you can't get to the bank and I don't have a working debit card anymore.
