Boyfriend Buying A Condo - An Update

So on Monday I mentioned how Boyfriend is looking into buying a condo in our city. It really is a Buyer's Market in our area right now with rent prices going up (yup, mine did) and house prices going down. We both like the idea of a condo because they are convenient to everything (we both walk to work and to each other's apartments) and don't require any upkeep. The one he really wants is soclose to my apartment it will make trekking back and forth a lot easier and is in a much better neighborhood than he is currently in. It's in a really nice building, has all new appliances (stainless steel!), and is very spacious.

The budgeter in me thinks wouldn't it be easier if we could just live together. This decision has already been pondered and my parents said you should never make that kind of decision based on money (I wouldn't but why not factor it in?!) so we decided to hold off on cohabitation for now. I really hope he gets it though so I can live vicariously through him (the more fiscally responsible one) for the exciting home-buying process.

how long have you been together with your bf?

Only eight months so a little too soon I guess (my last relationship was 3+ years and we didn't live together either). We have a GREAT relationship but maybe it's because we give each other space. I don't know. With a year lease it's hard to decide what will go on but I guess I could always break my lease down the line somewhere.

Yeah I mean I think I could totally live with Boyfriend but there's a lot of other factors to consider, most notably being my parent's strong objection to it. So that's what happening for now. If he gets the condo he'll be a lot closer to my place so that's a plus.

My girlfriend and I are in the exact same situation. I've bought a condo, though it won't be ready for another 14 months (it's a new building) .. maybe too early to think about :)

For your case, there's nothing stopping you from moving in a little later on too ..

It depends. DH and I bought our first condo after 2 years living together. We were going to get married eventually. It depends on the couple. We moved in after 1 month.

Also like we told our parents when you pay our bills you can determine what we do.
