Happy Carnival Day!

Today is a Munday. Compounded by the fact that I'm stressed about my Sister's wedding on Saturday, yikes! But I can direct you to some other interesting reads today:

First, Everyday Finance hosted the Carnival on Personal Finance and included my post, "Do I Need to Get Married to Get a Food Mixer?" I also was happy to read another article included in the carnival by Not The Jetset - how they were able to buy an HDTV by selling unwanted items in their house.

Also out there today is an article about a married couple younger than me who are on their way to being "Millionaires in the Making." La de da, good for them - they seem really boring and financially foolish if you ask me (but who am I to judge?).

And finally, another look at an elusive kitchen stand mixer I will never own as a single female:

Sigh.

hmm, i know you can't go back in time, but i got one of those as a gift when i was 15 because i'd really taken up baking as a serious hobby, and i still have an love it. do you think that, if you did start doing a lot of baking or something like that, you could ask for one of these as a family birthday or christmas gift? they are worth it... :)

Probably, there are things I want more but my sister's upcoming wedding has just gotten me focused on cooking supplies lately. And everytime I tell my parents I want one specific item instead of a bunch of little ones for Xmas they never listen! One day though...

I probably shouldn't tell you I have one of those in storage. I don't mean to be morbid but...I inherited it from my sister who passed away. She was married, I am not. That is one way a single girl got a kitchenaid. I wouldn't wish that method on anyone else.

Now I'm emotionally attached to a kitchen gadget and there's no room for it in my RV. (Perhaps therapy is in order?)

Congratulations on having your post included in the Carnival! Your blog is definitely one of the most entertaining and enlightening.
Don't lose hope on the mixer!

I bet that thing makes a mean scrambled egg. Guess I'll stick with the trusty fork in a bowl method that's worked so far. I'm not sure what it is about weddings and useless kitchen gadgets, but they always go hand in hand. We got a table top electric griddle that has probably been used only once or twice. Keep your head held high and one day you too shall have a useless kitchen gadget!

I secretly thought that couple was a bit boring too.. I mean, there's being frugal, then there's being FRUGAL. Personally I feel the need to live in the present a little bit more. What if one of them went under a bus at 39 years old, how ripped-off would that be? I shouldn't judge others, but I'm glad you thought the same thing, it makes me feel better :)

I totally agree! And also, why do they own all that property if they are just going to rent out a house and only share dinner out once a month? If I made that much money I would try to enjoy myself a little more. They don't even seem to want kids because they are so intent on saving every penny. Boring!

Glad you enjoyed the post! It was a long journey - longer than most would tolerate, but it was worth it in the end. Good luck on your quest for a stand mixer. Those are sweet. A neighbor bought one on a silent auction for like $120. Not bad so long as you don't mind apple green.

Don't wait for marriage! Every bride puts those things on their registry, but rarely get them. Those that do, are like your sister and rarely use them. Save up and try to catch one on clearance or refurb.

Also, about a month after the wedding, ask your sister to borrow that lasagna pan. If she doesn't cook, she'll likely never ask for it back:)
