But in the meantime, help fellow PF blogger Forest on Finance propose to his girlfriend, Bird.
I'm new to his blog so I don't know how he managed to have a personal finance blog without his girlfriend knowing about it (yikes!) but he has put up some questions to his readers about ring shopping.
He's not really sure what she likes but doesn't want to spoil the surprise by taking her ring shopping. Head on over to this post and tell him your suggestions!
And to avoid this same problem happening to Boyfriend, here's a huge hint about what kind of ring I like (haha).

You don't want a boring De-Beers-advertisement diamond ring, do you? There are so many great options out there that aren't diamonds.
Not trying to pick on you, women seem to stick in the advertising box on this one for some baffling reason.
Yeah I hear ya about that. Your ring sounds cool. If Boyfriend proposes I think he would be using an heirloom ring anyway which I think would be pretty sweet. I don't even need a ring really!
Thanks for the post, SN. I can't believe the overwhelming response I've received. That's why I love PF blogging.
As for Bird, she knows I have a PF blog, but that's about it. We don't live together or share computers, I write under a fake name and she's just not that interested in personal finance...so I'm pretty sure my secret is safe.
Thanks again for your help.
oooh, I love this idea! Thanks for the link!
haha, that was pretty damn funny though :) good work there!
That's pretty much exactly the engagement ring I have, and I LOVE it. Not boring - CLASSIC!!! I think non-diamond engagement rings are ew.
My fiance gave me a token ring when he proposed, then took me ring shopping afterwards to choose the one I wanted. That way it was a massive surprise, and I still got the ring I wanted.
Boyfriend and I have recently been ring-browsing (gasp!) and it's a little overwhelming since I'm not really a jewelery girl and know nothing but I like white gold and solitaire. He has a diamond already.
